1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely garbage design and poor quality I only gave 1 star because 0 stars is not an option.This thing is probably one of the most cheaply made items of its kind I've ever seen.As you'll be able to see in the pictures I've provided, there is a round brass nut pressed into both sides of this unit used for mounting this thing to whatever surface you desire utilizing the included bracket. The problem is, that after applying about 3ft lbs of torque to the supplied knobs, the brass nut spins freely within the housing. Obviously this makes tightening this housing down impossible. Inherently with this design flaw, you will have a radio and housing that flops around with any movement or vibration of your vehicle/vessel.That defect aside, every other aspect of this unit simply screams cheap.I returned mine for a refund. 10 people found this helpful

Packaging will be damaged.This is not what I received, there were no mounting bolts for the bracket had, the wires inside the unit were cut very short not enough to used them, the antenna jack was broken. (will come in original packaging it did not).

I went ahead and started connecting wires without looking at the back of the thing.. because in car audio land... red is power, black is ground, blue is remote, and then the paired colors are speaker with the black stripe indicating the negative... NOT this thing... plus there is no remote wire on the back so now I have to drill a hole.. but it did allow me to mount a head unit on the roof of my RZR, so it's not all bad.. just pay more attention than I did.

I started checking the wireing in the housing and found that the wires coming out of the housing were NOT in the right places as marked. if connected the way the wires came it would distroy the radio. I removed the wires and put them through the housing as they should be and everything works fine-------------ace One person found this helpful

I read the reviews and was skeptical of my purchase due to all the negative reviews left about the face plate. I came to the assumption that these customers probably did not use caution when opening face plate or were just too rough. Please buy this item w/ caution. The hinge on the face plate breaks real easy. I notified the "Pyle" company about my concern and they responded w/ "We only cover mechanical parts" One person found this helpful

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so good.. I bought this enclosure and a Pyle "car" radio for a tractor cab. I mostly needed an enclosure with a bracket so I could surface mount the radio. The rectangular box for the radio didn't slide into the enclosure. I used a rasp to increase the opening size by grinding away plastic edges. Interestingly, the color codes were not consistent between the enclosure provided wires and the radio wires, even using a two speaker system which I plan to use. But, the biggest issue is that the enclosure cover has a flat seal and the enclosure box has an elevated seal. Even after trimming the flat seal to avoid the elevated seal, the cover would not close and latch in a positive way. Even though my installation won't get wet, I thought that this enclosure with its cover would keep the dust and dirt out. I haven't tried the radio yet, but it was only a little more expensive than this enclosure. Clearly, Pyle hasn't tried to use their two products together. 2 people found this helpful

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst than Garbage!!!!!!!!! Wow, not even sure where to start. Door stuck, can't get it to open. Finally got it open and it cracked. Not sure why they have supplied wiring. The radio has wires. If you connect your radio to the supplied wiring, you will have to connect it again to your wires. I removed the supplied wires and threw them in a recycle bin. When I disassembled the unit. the rubber gasket fell off. It was a pain in the ass to get it installed again. I finally glued it to the housing. I am so confused as to why it wasn't glued on to start with. I purchased a Pyle radio and assumed that it would fit inside with no issues. Boy was I fooled.Absoutley no instructions. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But be aware it only offers standard hookups because of the pass-through harness design. and it must be made overseas because the colors of the wires are all wrong from industry standards.I did not end up using it for my clarion unit because i had many more pre-outs than this box offered.

Luckily the wires prevented it from flying into the windshield of the vehicle behind me. And second face cover brakes off under high wind conditions.

I did have to over tighten the adjusting bolts on the side cause it would cause the radio to flip down. But it does work for me so its all good for me.

The first one broke when we rolled the jeep down into a ravine and it landed on a stump. Cracked the front of the housing, but the stereo was fine. The old jeep does not have a top anymore and we do a lot of offroading in heavy dust and mud. It has worked well to protect the stereo. I even use a garden hose on it when washing out the inside if the Jeep. Verry happy with it.

The problem is with the sticker for the lid to help seal the box from water.It is to thick!!! even thou it is very thin to the eye.If you try and close it and expect it to stay closed its not happening!!!!It just keeps popping open no matter what you do, so I cut it back until it finally closed and stay closed, but it did not leave much sticker or protection from water. As it is suppose to me 100% water proof.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, ancient wiring scheme Nonexistent instructions, random wire colors that don't match any known wiring standard--Green or black aren't ground, red isn't power and none of the speaker codes match the colors on my radio wiring. Two black wires, you have to look at position to tell them apart. Worse, there is only one positive wire, so unless your radio is so old it doesn't have a digital display you have to choose between turning on and off with the vehicle or losing your presets every time you turn the vehicle off. (I cut the end off one of the preamp wires for one of the power connections). The holes in the mounting bracket are smaller than the bolts, and if you put any significant pressure on the nuts in the housing (as you would if the holes are a bit small) the nuts break free of their glue. They didn't fall out, but they did spin when trying to tighten, I put blobs of epoxy putty on before final assembly. 2 people found this helpful

If you are looking for a marine grade radio housing that you will use MORE than a few times a year, move on to a different product. The hinges on this product are made of plastic, during installation, one hinge broke right out of the box and believe me when I say I was being gentle. In the process of removing radio to inspect broken hinge, the other side broke.I'm truly glad this occurred at home and not on the water.The housing seams to be built of good material but the most important part to protect your radio unit, the cover, is in major need of a redesign from Pyle.Pyle, if you are using a third party manufacture, cut your ties now. I would recommend redesigning the cover to operate using metal hinges and a more secure/strong face plate. As the unit stands right now, I would be very afraid to use it for any sort of protection for my gear... 7 people found this helpful
