5.0 out of 5 stars Great product at a very reasonable price I'm extremely happy with this kettle. It's the right size for 1 or 2 large (~15oz) mugs, gives you 100% pour control (as it claims), and looks attractive and modern. I highly recommend it for making pour-over coffee, or when serving any other hot beverages (you may get some compliments on the goose-neck design). I would recommend emptying it completely and allowing to air dry in between uses (or completely hand washing it), that has kept the inside in perfect condition.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great addition to a coffee-lover's kitchen! I had been in the market for a gooseneck kettle for months when I finally purchased the Bonavita model. I had just started attempting to conquer the pour-over method of brewing coffee, and just couldn't get a good pour with my run-of-the-mill kettle. I found the Bonavita to allow a perfect, controlled pour for all of my pour-over cups. I use it exclusively, and have found it useful in any kind of brewing method I use, including AeroPress and French press--it's just a treat to use!

I'd been trying pour over with my traditional kettle and then chose to "upgrade" when I happened across this affordable Bonavita. Someday I'll upgrade to the one that will keep the water at a certain temperature so I have more than one cup poured at a time (guests?), but for a single person, and on a budget, this is wonderful! I have had no rust issues at all. It's just perfect.

3.0 out of 5 stars Handle popped off I purchased this kettle in June of 2015. I've enjoyed it until this morning when the handle popped off while rinsing it out. VERY unhappy as now I have to buy a new one. Things just aren't made the way they used to be. Now we have to replace items every couple of years. No whistle, so you have to listen for the boiling and look at the steam escaping to know that it's boiling. Heats to boiling very quickly. Contacted the company and they said: "this item does not contain user serviceable parts and we do not currently offer repair services". I am not at all happy with having to throw an otherwise perfect kettle to the garbage just because the handle broke...

I haven't had any issues with it after using it daily for about a month, but it's immediately obvious that the construction quality is lacking. The connection of the spout to the kettle seems weak, and it seems that if the spout is bent it will break at the weld point. The handle seems similarly prone to bending / breaking. Materials seem a bit too light-weight overall.A few negatives, but there are some positive points. The kettle does look good, and pours well. The longevity is a big question, but there really aren't that many other options out there for this type of kettle. 5 people found this helpful

No. But it will make excellent pour over coffees, there is no issue with it maintaining temperature, and it's comfortable to hold.When I first bought it, the handle was loose and made some noise and wasn't steady as a result. After a month or so I realized the issue and tightened it. It has been the same, working normally, ever since, for 5+ months. Great functional tool.

After every use I do empty and turn it upside down for drying, so maybe this is why I've had no rusting issues.I use this for my pour-over coffee. I'm very fussy about my coffee, purchasing beans in 1/2 lb lots from a small local roaster, storing them in a vacuum sealed container, etc. The only thing I was lacking was a nice Hario kettle, but I thought it way overpriced. This kettle was about half the price of the Hario (I got mine as a Warehouse deal) and has greatly improved the consistency of my brew. Love it! 5 people found this helpful

4.0 out of 5 stars Wobbles a little, but worth the price. Read my thermometer tip too. This works well, except for the fact that it wobbles when heating. I've found a way to place the handle against the back of the stovetop to stop the wobblies. Beyond that it works great. A cool tip: you can keep a tiny cooking thermometer in one of the holes on the lid. For pour-over coffee, you'll want to typically pour between 200-205 degrees F. Was looking for something made in the U.S. or Europe, and thought this was, but when it came it said made in china, very disappointed. What happened to countries besides China making things??? It was also much smaller than she thought it would be and wanted, as we feed lots of firemen. It is cute though, and if she didn't need a large one it would be good, besides the made in china part. So it will be re-gifted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Elegant and fun to use. I bought this product to keep on my range and display it for its 'esthetic purity'....Looks great in any kitchen, unless you are the Beverly Hillbilly's. I also like the smooth way the liquid travels down its long spout into my waiting cup. Another review mentioned that this product is prone to marks and fingerprints on its stainless steel thin skin so: I am very careful only to touch it on the black handle and when washing I use mild liquid cleaner and a soft sponge......As they say in Australia....No Worries ! He loved the spout design and that is holds enough for two large mugs of coffee without having to refill. The smooth surface is easy to clean, and the shape is attractive. It worked great for six months. Unfortunately, one day it was empty on a hot burner, and the welding on the spout melted resulting in the spout falling off. I am going to reorder and buy the protection plan.

Just make sure you don't do what I did and accidentally run the flames too high as they become larger than the base of the kettle and will come up over the sides. This could lead to the handle melting down the line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Have had it for about a year with no problems. Kettle boils enough water to make 8 cups in my Melita pour-over carafe even though the description says the kettle holds 7 cups. No rust, no broken gooseneck - as others have written about. Lightweight, no whistle (which I like) and easy to wipe clean. A bit on the pricey side, but typical for similar kettles.

I like the design and pour ability that the Bona vita has but the strength of the kettle's material seemed weak compared to the Hario. 2.0 out of 5 stars Spout fell off during heating I was using this pot for several months, and it was pretty dang good. Then, the strangest thing happened. I set the pot down next to the heating element, and the spout just fell right off. It became apparent that the spout was secured with a smidgen of solder, and it's honestly a wonder it didn't fall off sooner. I'm lucky that there wasn't any boiling water in the pot at the time, or let's just say I'd be talking to me lawyer.tl;dr: keep looking, shoddy design

5.0 out of 5 stars Best swan-neck kettle on the market This was a gift for my boyfriend, the barista, who is somewhat of a coffee connoisseur. I knew he needed a swan neck kettle for accurate and slow pouring for brewing certain coffee drinks, and this kettle's very narrow spout is perfect. The pot is small - 1 liter is not a lot - so you can't boil a lot of water at once. It is also attractive and seems sturdy. We love it!

I just stick the pointed end of the thermometer through the hole and leave it in the water. I like my coffee water about 190ºF and now I can watch the temp without lifting the lid. A great advantage for the perfect cup of coffee!It is well made, has a well positioned skinny spout for targeting and wetting coffee grains, cleans up fine, great for making a few cups of perfect coffee

We used this kettle daily and loved it until my husband left it on the stove too long and it fell apart. Although I knew better he did not, so here is a tip: Do not make the flame (if you have a gas stove) bigger than the bottom of the kettle. Although it didn't catch fire or anything, it did melt the handle and spout off. Just thought a little public service annoucement would help others out! :) One person found this helpful

It is such an integral and indispensable part of my coffee-making ritual that a recent power outage convinced me of the need for the non-electric version as well. The stainless steel is beautiful, the design is elegant, the manufacture is pristine and flawless, and Amazon's shipping and care with packaging is, as usual, outstanding. If you make pour-over coffee, use a Clever dripper, or even an AeroPress, this is an essential piece of equipment that allows a very controlled and carefully aimed pour. 2 people found this helpful

It hasn't broke and it was very inexpensive compared to the hario. Great for making pour overs. I also purchased the electric version for my office. Why I say the hario is better: Heavier construction and spot is positioned to empty all water. This kettle is of lighter construction and there always seems to be a little water unable clear the kettle. If this was the same price as the hario it would be 3/5 stars. Because it is such a great price I give it 5!

I read an article online that compared several kettles when making drip coffee and the Bonavita came out on top even over the Hario kettles due to it's build quality, looks, and most importantly flow control. If you are looking for a solid kettle for your V60 or Chemex look no further. So far I've been using this kettle almost daily, sometimes twice daily, and have had absolutely no issues with corrosion, warping, or leaking. I always empty the kettle of water after use and never leave it over a flame larger then the lowest simmer. One person found this helpful

1.0 out of 5 stars Read my post for safety issues! These are two pots I purchased. One of them had the spout fall off and water boiled out overharing,meltimg the top. The logo also burned off over time. The replacement I bought several months ago, formed a rust spot on the bottom inside seam within the first week. I dealt with that but now it leaks from the bottom. These pots do not hold up. I really like the style of the pot but they l will not buy another one. They rust even when you clean and dry them. I noticed when you are heating water that the pot sweats from the cold water but it starts to bubble around the bottom seam and forms some kind of reaction which leads to rust and corrosion. I wish I could return them for a credit but its past the return time. I may have to contact the manufacturer. Very disappointed. My son has one and the handle came the pot fell and the spout broke off his. These pots were not abused. There are safety issues! 5 people found this helpful

I immediately requested a replacement and was sent one in a timely fashion.I've seen many complaints about rusting which I initially took into account until I actually looked at some of my "Stainless steel" products. They all pretty much have some small degree of surface rust, even the heavier pieces, that I have been using without realizing it(that goes for discoloration as well). I do however dry the inside about a minute after the pouring the last bit of water so that the rusting is not exacerbated on the inside. The fact that it's relativity thin allows for a quick heat up and a quick cool down.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd buy it over a Hario even if cost weren't a factor. The one downside of Bonavita kettles is that I often have difficulty pouring the last bit of water in the kettle. As for just getting the water out so it dries in a sanitary way, I just take the lid off and pour it out of the top. To avoid the issue of losing a consistent flow when you are in the middle of a brew, just add 30 extra grams of water. This kettle is lighter than a Hario, so just adding a smidge extra water before you pour is easy to do. Can't beat it for the price, not even close. You can also purchase flow restrictors separately if you think they might help control the water flow at the very bottom of the kettle.

I just love how it pours water, a think nice spout, not a splashing mess like some other bigger kettles I own.After recieving another, larger, MarthaStewart kettle for my birthday and having it spew boiling water everywhere, we replaced it with this one and have never looked back.Word to the wise, if you leave this kettle on by accident with no water in it, the top will melt, the spout will snap off, and your house will smell like a burning toy factory for a week. Just saying. Oh, and you'll have to buy a new kettle.But I did, and I bought the same exact one. So that should say something.

The return window is now closed as of 13 days ago, and I can't find a link to contact the seller, so this is my only recourse. Naturally I did find a menu choice to "Buy this item again." I don't hardly think so. There's a reason why the return window is short: so is the product's lifespan. Poor use of $35. Don't do it unless you're an expert welder. **UPDATE: when I submitted a warranty claim I got an immediate and appropriate response: a new kettle is already on its way. Maybe for most uses, this isn't that necessary, but if you're making pourover coffee, you want a little control over the flow.What I like about it:1) It's hard to pour too fast, and fairly easy to keep the flow consistent.2) It looks pretty nice, maybe not quite as cool as the Hario kettles, but it's certainly not an ugly addition to the stovetop.What it could do better:1) I wish the metal were just a bit thicker. The container does seem to have warped from heating at all, but I'm worried that if I were to accidentally leave it on the stove too long it might.Verdict:Buy if you are in the market for a nice kettle for making pourovers.

I have a different kettle in which I boil my water and then transfer it to this one so that I can pour out water for my Chemex coffee filter carafe. However, the plastic on the handle is utter s***. It's made of some flimsy, brittle plastic that breaks quite easily if you drop this thing. That's exactly what happened with mine. Bonavita was nice enough to furnish me with a replacement handle for free. HOWEVER, when I tried sliding it into place to affix it to the kettle, the replacement handle broke too. I'm no expert on industrial design but PLASTIC should NOT be breaking this easily!!![UPDATE] I've since attached the SECOND replacement handle which Bonavita was nice enough to send to me for free as well. This time around I just made sure to use a generous spraying of WD40 and gently affixed it to the kettle. I was told that they would escalate my comments regarding the plastic to their product design people. Whether that's true and whether anything comes of this, remains to be seen. 4.0 out of 5 stars Great for pouring, offers a lot of control I bought this for my boyfriend as a birthday present since he had gotten into pour-over coffee and realized that the pouring kettle is an important part of that process. He just didn't know what these kettles were called.He's been using it since August and it's been holding up fine so far. The inside of the pot hasn't shown any discoloration or tarnish, like noted in other reviews.He does not directly boil water in this kettle. He just uses it for pouring. He'll usually boil water in our tea kettle, then he pours it into this - because I guess you don't want boiling hot water? This cools the water down a bit and then he pours over. He'll pour out excess water and let it dry when he's done with it. He' perfectly fine with this routine.

Same as with the first, the plastic handle on the lid melted the first time water was boiled in it. Not sure why I bothered trying again, lid is trash. I'm sure this one will quickly turn brown like the last one from living on the stove top, but that's ok. Handle still gets too hot to hold without a pot holder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted I tried to buy a new tea kettle locally but could not find exactly the right one. I found this kettle on Amazon after researching several different ones. I chose it for the design and style and seeming functionality. Using it, it scores high in all three categories. I use it for individual cups of coffee and tea. The size is perfect: not too big, not too small. The weight is easy to hold. The balance of the handle is perfect. The spout pours precisely the right amount of water over the bag or grounds, not too fast, not too much like more standard squat kettles. Water warms quickly so you don't have to wait too long for your cuppa. And of course the design is beautiful. Even when it's just sitting there, I enjoy looking at it. Easy to wash; doesn't take up much room in my dishwasher. I would recommend this product to everyone who is looking for the features I've described. I've used it everyday, several times a day for a while now so I could review after the kinks were out or exposed. No kinks! One person found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it - no complaints. I use it on a glass-top stove and works great. I want to switch to a gas stove some day but I'm happy it's working fine now. Doesn't take long to boil even with cold water (vs my pots that take forever as their bottoms are warped).I use it mainly for tea or my Hario v60 pour-over, but obviously would work great on Chemex, etc., and be cheaper than the competitors. If you don't have access to a stove to heat, I also have used and recommend the powered version. Both are very good.Remember not to overfill this. I usually keep the water below the 4 bolts where the handle connects to the kettle on the inside. The powered version has a 1L line and it's about in that area. Of course, you can also tare your weight to pour in exactly 1L. Overfilling will cause the boiled water to splash out, not fun. Or just RTFM. :)Reviewing the other reviews: If you make the mistake of heating this without water in it, that is YOUR fault it collapsed and you should NOT be docking stars on the product because of it. You wouldn't run a water heater without water in it, right? Right?

I personally find that it controls better than the temp-controlled electric version, as this one doesn't pulsate as badly while the kettle goes through the pourover motions. I had upgraded to the electric but eventually found my way back to this one. With a separate temperature probe, this one is arguably better.My one gripe is that the lid could be easier to remove. The flow control isn't perfect, but I doubt a Fellow Stagg's improvement in control is proportional to the difference in price to this one.I also assume that folks whose spout literally broke off had left this kettle empty while heating on the stove. 4.0 out of 5 stars Overall a good product, but louder than needs to be My wife and I have been using this product for a few weeks now, and I think generally we have been satisfied with the product, but there are still some gripes that we both have. I do not think these gripes are significant, but perhaps mostly annoyances. The kettle is quite loud as soon as it put on the heat. Almost right away it begins to sound like a train. Though, this may be due to the fact that we are using an electric range with coil heating elements. Perhaps with gas it would not be same, I do not know. Second, it seems to take quite long to boil water. I am not sure it is not because of the tapered design of the kettle. Again, this is not a big deal, and an extra few minutes to reach boil is not so much an issue, but an annoyance, and one with which we can live. I am hoping that those with gas will also report on their experience of the product to see if they are observing the same. Induction users as well. Overall, I would still recommend this product, because the pouring it allows one to achieve is very, very good. 2 people found this helpful

1.0 out of 5 stars the handle fell off after 10 months Bought kettle May 21, 2022. By June the outside surface was becoming discolored. Bonavita refused to exchange it. About a month ago the handle fell off . I've spent 4 weeks trying to convince them to replace the kettle. They refused, saying since I bought it from Amazon instead of directly from Bonavita they can't be sure Amazon didn't sell me a knock-off. Talk about NOT standing behind your product or trusting Amazon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy with confidence. Okay, so I was a bit hesitant to buy this kettle because of some of the bad reviews I’d seen here at Amazon. The two I was most concerned about were that the spout came off while boiling water and that a poorly shaped bottom caused it to rock off a glass top stove. I started looking at reviews on coffee websites and such, and heard nothing but positive feedback for this product. I decided to email the manufacturer. They admitted that in some of the earlier runs of this model there were some welding issues, but that they had been resolved.On the balance of the information I decided to order, and I’m happy I did. The welding around the spout looks very sturdy, so I am not worried about that. Also, I had no issues with the kettle rocking off the burner. The only reason I could see that, that might happen is if someone left some water either on the burner or the bottom of the kettle to create steam and pressure.I had heard some complaints about the kettle feeling a bit light, which it does. To be honest, though, I think that is by design. It is meant to pour water in a very controlled manner. This would be more difficult if it was heavier.Overall I couldn’t be happier. The kettle looks great, it feels very good in the hand, gives excellent control while pouring, and is very affordable. If you are considering a kettle for pour over coffee I would say buy this one with confidence. 48 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars 4 years of daily use and still great! Good for craft coffee usage I’ve used this kettle for daily use for the past 4 years since I purchased it. I’ve used it on gas and electric stoves (both the coil and the flush glass kinds), and taken it on numerous camping trips. It lives on the stove top when not in use and has been covered by greases and splatters every day. But 4 years later, it is still good as new. The stainless steel has not rusted and the plastic handles are still brand new looking, a little comet and a Brillo pad will take off any discoloration and have it looking brand new.Besides durability, I use this for pour overs every day. I used a V60, Chemex, Aeropress, Siphon, and Frenchpress and this works great in all instances. I can even make a 16oz cup for 3 people using this kettle, it gets the job done. At my old place of work, we had the electric version of this, which worked just as good and almost made me wish I had gotten that one because of how fast it boiled, but both of these work great! 4.0 out of 5 stars Works with induction cooktop but is very sensitive to heating without water I have an induction cooktop and was looking for a kettle that worked with it. Since Bona Vita is a well known brand for their electric kettle, I figured that this kettle would be just as good. And! It was. Though they don't specifically market its compatibility with induction cooktops, this kettle definitely does work with induction heating and the combination heats up water very quickly. I used this every morning to make pour-over coffee.I was a bit hesitant before purchasing this kettle because I read all the reviews on here about the spout falling off and handle melting. This actually just happened to me, because I wasn't thinking and groggy in the morning and accidentally heated up the kettle without water in it. SO, if you think that you might be similarly forgetful, especially if you are using the kettle every morning, I would think twice about purchasing this kettle. I will probably purchase an alternative brand now that I have to find a replacement. 2 people found this helpful

I spent years boiling my water for coffee brewing out of a regular, short-spouted kettle with the whistle thing that makes all kinds of racket when the water boils. There wasn't a whole lot of control over the pour, which can lead to problems with uneven extraction. Plus, general-purpose kettles are unwieldy and difficult to pour.Enter this Bonavita kettle (or, if you prefer the style, the equivalent kettle made by Hario--but I much prefer this one, it's gorgeous!).Here's how I use it:1) Boil water in my normal kettle2) When it boils, transfer it into this Bonavita kettle (this step also helps cool the water down from boiling)3) Throw a thermometer into the water and wait for it to cool down to proper brewing temperature, or if you're hardcore, wait until your gut tells you the water is ready4) Pour about 30-50ml of water onto your coffee grounds, making sure to wet them evenly. Wait 30 seconds or so until the grounds stop bubbling (that's the bloom that you get when freshly roasted and ground beans release some CO2).5) Pour an even stream in a circular motion over your grounds in whatever brewing vessel you're using (French press, Chemex, Aeropress, etc.)6) Have some freakin' great coffeeThe neat, tempered stream that comes out of the gooseneck spout on this thing makes it very easy to direct the water onto specific spots, which helps you wet your grounds evenly and manage the bloom on fresher grounds well. It's also easier to pour water slowly without it becoming a trickle, which can lead to splashing and ultimately leaves you with a messy counter top. So with a standard kettle, I found myself simply flooding my grounds, which for pour-over brewers can lead to inconsistent extraction.Overall, it's a great, attractive kettle that helps you brew better coffee more consistently (again, especially with pour-over brewers). 3.0 out of 5 stars It's a kettle and it does kettle things well! Started making coffee the old fashion way, and wanted a kettle where I could control the pour a little bit more. This one was better priced than the other "specialty coffee kettles" out there, so I decided to give this one a shot. I live in a high altitude area with an electric coil stove.What I like: It is a cute kettle, and looks nice in my kitchen. The brushed metal look is pleasing, and stays fairly clean with minimal finger smudges. Has a nice balance when pouring the water out, and is easy to pour. The handle does get a little warm, but you can easily pick it up bare handed. It is easy to hear when the water cools down to the right temperature so I don't burn my coffee or have to hassle with a thermometer. I did forget that this kettle didn't come with a whistle, so the second time I used it I accidentally boiled the water completely gone, and even though the entire kettle got terrifyingly hot, it survived the incident with no damages!What I don't like: It seems flimsy. Maybe I am used to the heavy, every day tea kettles, but how light and thin the metal is really threw me off. I think this correlates to how well the kettle heats up water; it takes quite a bit longer to get water to boil than my previous tea kettles. The bottom also isn't completely flat and has some dips here and there, which might also contribute to the slower than normal water boiling times... but don't quote me on on any of that, I am not a scientist. I guess for the money I was expecting something with more substance, and it has the same weight and feel as those cheap $5 metal kettles you buy from Walmart. However, this is also my first "specialty coffee kettle" so they all may be like this. Maybe they are made light to make pouring easier? I don't know. It is also fairly narrow, so can be a bit of a hassle to clean the inside. The curvature of the kettle and the high placement of the spout also allows water to get stuck a bit during the pour, so rocking the kettle back and forth a bit is required to dislodge the water.What made me sad: Kettle came with a blemish in the brushed steel. It's a quarter sized discoloration right in the front of the kettle where the brushed steel got smudged. While not super noticeable, I did pay $30 for this so I get slightly irritated whenever I think about the kettle now. However, it is such a small blemish that I don't feel like the hassle of returning the kettle is worth it.I think I would have rated this kettle a 4, considering the price when compared to other more expensive "specialty coffee kettles." But the slight irritation whenever I think about my brand new, $30 specialty coffee kettle with its quarter sized blemish [tortured sigh]...
